THE ROOTS OF YOGA
In this workshop we will trace back the lineage of yoga to its roots. We will begin at almost 6000BCE with the earliest known traces of yoga and work our way forward to present day. Along the way, we will look at the influences that society, culture and religion played on the practice of yoga and how it has evolved to the practice we know today. The workshop will be held Saturday morning, March 17 from 10:00am - 12:00 noon. The cost is $20. Please call the studio with any questions or to register.
MAKE THE CONNECTION
MAKE THE CONNECTION is a specialized 6 week Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy
class for people dealing with stress, anxiety, depression, weight
issues, grief or any other pressing life issue. It is also excellent for
anyone who is interested in making a deeper connection with themselves.
The premise is that although we often look for outside sources to guide
us, ultimately we are our own best source of guidance. It's a matter of
slowing down, reconnecting with ourselves, and listening to ourselves.
This group provides the opportunity to do just that. The group uses
yoga, breathing, meditation and group support as a way to promote
physical and emotional strength, flexibility and balance. It also serves
as a way to help you connect and become more fully aware of whatever
life situation you may currently be experiencing and allows for the
release of tension that can so often accompany these challenges. The
yoga and meditation taught in the group are more about what you are
experiencing than doing it the "right way". This is why no previous yoga
experience is necessary in order to benefit from this group. Each week
has a specific theme/focus and each week builds on the previous weeks.
Group support is used as a way for each person to speak, if they choose
to, about their experience in order to make it more powerful. No advice
is given. Homework is used as a way to integrate the skills you are
learning into your daily Life. Our next MAKE THE CONNECTION GROUP will
run from Monday, March 5 through Monday, April 9 from 6:30 – 8:30 pm.
Included in the 6 week program will be an All-Day Meditation Day on
Sunday, March 25. The cost is $175 for the whole program. Please call
the studio to register or for more information.
BEYOND THE POSTURE
When most people hear the word “yoga” they think about physical movement
and exercise. In reality, that is only one of the many practices that
make up the system of yoga. In this workshop you will learn and explore
some of the other facets of yoga which can help to enhance your overall
yoga practice. The workshop will be held Saturday morning, April 21
from 10:00am - 12:00 noon. The cost is $20. Please call the studio with
questions or to register.
